The Department of Education recently announced an overhaul of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Millions of public service workers who have been struggling under the weight of student loan debt now have a path to relief. In short, borrowers who were previously ineligible because they had the wrong loan, were making payments on the wrong payment plan, or were knocked off track due to processing errors can now receive credit toward forgiveness for those years worked in public service.

Join us as the Student Borrower Protection Center presents a webinar on Thursday, February 3, at 7PM EST that will highlight the updates on the program and how to navigate the waiver process. While this is a huge victory for borrowers — made possible by the tireless efforts of an amazing network of advocacy organizations and individual borrowers across the country — a lot of questions remain about how the process will work.

The Student Borrower Protection Center is a nonprofit organization focused on alleviating the burden of student debt for millions of Americans. The SBPC engages in advocacy, policymaking, and litigation strategy to rein in industry abuses, protect borrowers’ rights, and advance economic opportunity for the next generation of students.

SBPC is building innovative partnerships and projects across the country to lead a nationwide effort to protect student loan borrowers and halt widespread abuses by the student loan industry. Through this work, SBPC is supporting state and local officials on the front lines of the crisis and driving new action on behalf of borrowers in communities, in court, and in government.
