Virtual Program - You Are The Author Of Your Own Story

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Event Details

Too often we allow the stories and narratives that others have of us dictate the way that we live our lives. Jessi is no different.

In this discussion, which will take place over Zoom on June 14th @ 7pm, she guides the audience to the realization that we've all given away authorship of our lives at some point, by sharing her own experience of being trapped by the expectations of others. The stories she shares center on her identity as a transwoman who lived in the closet of masculinity into her 40s.  As we journey with her through the times she allowed others and society to define her we begin to recognize similarities in our own stories.  When her journey finally becomes her own and she the author of it, we witness the birth of her joy and freedom.

By the end, each person may remember their power and reclaim the right to create the lives they've dreamed of.

Jessica Purdy’s desire for a more inclusive and accepting society led her to become an Activist, Public Speaker, and Founder of FIC Human Resource Partners, LLC. Her identity as a panromantic, asexual, transwoman is central to her life and work.  She is, as they say, Out and Proud.  But rather than ‘coming out’, she brings people into her confidence, her truth, and her life.

She was a founding member of the Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition, Board Chair of the Lancaster Pride Association and is currently serving on the Keystone Business Alliance Board of Directors. She is also the author of  four books of poetry, including Glass Hearts & Broken Pedestals, which spent several days as the #3 book on Amazon’s LGBTQ+ New Poetry Release list.
