Event Details

On August 21, 2017, NJ will experience a partial solar eclipse.  Drop by the Main Library's Meeting Room for live streaming coverage of what is being called the Great American Eclipse.

While supplies last a limited number of solar glasses, funded by the Woodbridge Library Foundation, will be distributed.  Limit 1 per family.  We'll also have some simple handouts available.  Come share the eclipse with us!
Due to high demand we can only distribute solar eclipse glasses to Woodbridge residents.

The only safe way to directly view the partial eclipse is with solar glasses.  It is never safe to look directly at the sun's rays – even if the sun is partly obscured. When watching a partial eclipse you must wear eclipse glasses at all times if you want to face the sun, or use an alternate indirect method.

A safe and easy way to view the Great American Eclipse is with a pinhole camera. You can find instructions from NASA here @ https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/learn/project/how-to-make-a-pinhole-camera/  or you can make a Make a Box Pinhole Projector - see instructions here @ https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/box-pinhole-projector.html  Remember always keep your back toward the Sun while looking at a pinhole projection.

For safety information please take a few minutes and read  - https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety
